I do not agree with your theory that everyone lacked self control when this exploit appeared. If someone in real life offered you a mansion for 50 bucks I bet you'd buy it. Same goes with Guild Wars. You'r offered amazing deals and since many thought it was just another price reset to help the economy, what would be wrong with taking that great deal?
The thing is, I'm quite sure A LOT of people knew they were exploting the game. Be honest, what did you think it was, the greatest gift from ANet? Also, if someone offered me $50 for a mansion, I wouldn't be concerned with a rollback. What? TIME TRAVEL...?

i got one thing to say to alot of you saying i lost this in that two hours i lost that in that two hours think about how many people play this game and i dont personally think A-Net give a damn about what you lost when if they dont rollback it harms alot more people than it helps

Or maybe there are those of us who actually have a few ecto's and shard's, and don't want their value to be next to nil. Personally I have no problem with this roll back. I lost a couple golds, but so what. As long as the value of my items doesn't turn to shit. And last I checked, Anet does put forth some effort in tracking down the accounts of players selling items for actual cash. Just because they can't stop them all doesn't mean they don't stop any.

This incident has been unfortunate, but we can get though this if the glitches and mistakes come to a halt. There has beeen a constant barrage of technical issues lately, ranging from global lagging to four or five people in a party being disconnected and now this fiasco. I am willing to continue to support Anet because they have been providing a great gaming experience to me for many months. To Anet I say get your stuff together and stop jacking with the game unnecessarily(ie .. the dum change to skill traders which serves no purpose). To everyone else I say cut them some slack regardless of the outcome of the rollback we all had hundreds of hours of fun and will continue to do so in the future so no need to abandon ship, cause they are doing their best.

they decided to leave the game down untill people learned to look at stickied threads, read the announcement on the mainpage, or use the forum search feature.

You don't need to grind thats the point. I can get droks armor and be perfectly competitive. FoW is there for those who WANT TO GRIND or at least enjoy working towards that gold sink to some extant.

First, if the owner of a mansion knowingly and willingly wanted to sell their mansion to me for $50, I would of course, accept. There's nothing wrong with that. What happened today is more like if the mass populace suddenly found out that everyone of stature hides their house deeds in their street mailbox for safe keeping... Does the ease of such a theft make it acceptable?

And secondly, the other price reset you are referring to was not intentional and thus was not a way to help the economy. They updated the code for the merchants. The price reset was a mistake and what followed did not benefit the economy.

I would also like to clarify something. I am mainly referring to the the people who tried to stock pile goods in order to sell them later at a much higher margin. If you simply bought for your use, that's far less of an issue.

What time mountain-wise can we log in? Also, its quite simple......if you bought an item, you get your money back so just buy it again, if you bought everything 250g you get full refund and if you farmed a nice weapon or shield or rune, i feel bad but i dont want a bunch of 30 year old whining that their items are being taken away.

Wow, this is a pretty big deal ^_^ but it's being handled the only way it can. To let another trader reset pass would be horrible.

I'm glad I missed it all, because I'd have been pretty confused about what to do had I been online at the time. Lab practical due dates FTW!

It sucks that so many people had a bit of their play time go to waste. Really does. But, the last thing ANet would want is a massive blow to the in-game economy so close to the release of Factions. I actually think it's pretty badass to have responded as quickly and decisively as they did.

I agree with you, my faith in A-Net has unfortunately been damaged recently(although it is reassuring they have the ability of system restore). I don't know if today was the result of hackers or not, but I've never seen anything like this, and I've been playing since May. This kind of thing doesn't happen in GW normally.

Edit: [removal of flame bait, due to being misinformed] Sorry again, lol.

For the people complaining about what happened six months ago, Gaile has already replied to that. In addition, prices were reset at that point but quickly increased as more and more players bought items so as to, eventually, have the price match the demand.

This did not happen this time as prices were frozen no matter how much people bought.

Quote:
But the number one thing that honestly makes me question A-Net's motives is the new update where every skill trainer in the game has all skills available. Yeah, skill points are still a factor, but doesn't that completely take out the whole idea of gradual progressing out of the game? I mean there's no surprises for new players, they have access to every skill right when they hit Post-Searing Ascalon.
This is completely untrue. You only have access to skills you have already unlocked over your account at skill trainers, not including elites. This is honestly something I wish was in the game from the very beginning as I may not have deleted my PVE Ele if I wasn't restricted to the utterly boring Fire spells in the beginning...even if I did have to pay for the skills.

Despite agreeing with the rollback, even having purchased many items at obscenely low prices and facing the loss of them and not minding, I'm going to have to disagree with this.

How often does ArenaNet post up the information for new patches in advance? Almost never. When they do, it's the exception, rather than the general rule.

Sometimes, new build downloads come a half hour to a full hour before the update notes are actually up on the website, though it's rarely THAT long. The very first thing I did before splurging on items was to check the website, and the first thought in my mind when no info was up was that Anet would stick the notes up later. As I said, it seems to be the SOP.

Now, if there were a history of having the update information on the website ahead of time consistently, and accurately, containing all or most of the update notes (with addendums included later on when unlisted changes are discovered by players, such as the description change to Swirling Aura), I'd agree. But that's simply not the case. People are used to being in the dark for a while, and even afterwards, not getting the whole story, whether it's meant to be that way or not.

Negatives aside, while for people trying to play the game, the lockdown is a pain [Personally, if it weren't for the issues going on today, I'd be trying to PvP. My connection seems stable today.], comparitively to other games I've played, this is actually a fairly prompt response time, and the downtime is reasonable. Whatever else I might have to say about Anet that isn't all sunshine and roses, ArenaNet is a fairly reliable company with good service, and a genuine interest in keeping their game top notch. For that, I say kudos; You're still #1 in my books.

This has to do with adding all the new features. As the code is adjusted stupid things inevidably occur. This was the norm for testing, but they got things stabalized by release. This is always more likely to occur in transition when they are uploading large amounts to your client-- one silly line of code can destroy the economy.
